Hi Friends and Happy Monday!
On this Monday after Good Friday. This Monday after the celebration of His resurrection. This Monday, where HOPE wells up within my heart and gratitude for my salvation overwhelms my spirit….I embrace a new week and look ahead to what goodness He has in store!
Academics:
*Today begins week 4, with my first midterm looming within. Last week I had some unique patient cases in clinical, which provided unique learning experiences….I’m learning that living out this nursing role doesn’t mean that I’m the one bringing healing or that I’ll always get to be the hero…this week taught me that I am just the hands and feet of the Master Healer and that sometimes I won’t be able to fix what’s broken. When your patient in his 40’s has a terminal diagnosis, with a beautiful wife and young kids at home and a faith founded in Jesus…when you have to send him home to die because there’s nothing more that can be done…when life’s not fair and you wish medicine had a better answer…it’s those moments where I learn that this position, this title, this career and calling is simply a vehicle that allows me to touch lives with compassion and empathy, to provide a listening ear and a thoughtful word, to embrace the vulnerable and the messy and ultimately trust it all over to His loving and gracious care.
*At the end of this week, I will be half way through my entire nursing program!! I can hardly believe that….what a journey it has been and I can’t wait to embrace all that I get to learn with the time that’s left.
Must-Haves:
*Super cute T-Shirt for summer! Another great Amazon fashion find 😉
*Kinda loving these adidas tennies! Pretty in pink!
*One of my favorite books from John Mark Comer….when you need to know that HOPE still exists.
Goals for the Week:
*Take a walk outside! The sun is beginning to show its face and I am loving soaking it up. Amidst the busy schedule….waking before it’s light outside and returning home at dusk, I want to try to sneak in a walk outside sometime this week to enjoy the sunshine while I can!
*It’s midterms week which means that it’s time to decrease those cortisol levels by performing random acts of kindness! The chocolate packages with notes of encouragement are attached…I like to call it bless the bus driver. It’s looking to what could be ordinary, detached relationships and choosing to extend kindness and encouragement.
How will you extend kindness this week and touch a life that has touched you?
