Friends- Happy Monday! It’s beginning to look and feel like spring around here. The bitter cold of winter is slowly fading away as the wake of sunshine is beginning to awaken the earth, reminding us of the beauty of hope and new life.
And it’s feeling a bit like spring in my soul right now….letting go of some dark, cold, bitter struggles and perspectives of my heart and feeling His light shine in so brightly and awaken my soul to His goodness, grace, beauty and HOPE that is all around me. I am ready to THRIVE and BLOOM!
Praying that wherever you are in life, that you would press in to the depth of your season and know that HOPE surrounds you.
Academics:
*Wrapping up chronic term this next week and preparing for finals next week! We have our last two clinical days on Bone Marrow Transplant/Oncology this week and I am sad to be leaving this unit. I thoroughly enjoyed my time caring for this patient population and could definitely see myself working in oncology in the future. It was hard to watch these patients actively die and it was hard to see the ache of a parent’s heart as they took their 20-something child off life support, and it was hard to see the 40-something mom of 2 little ones silently lose her grip on life, and it was hard to see the 70-something, who newly became a grandpa, fight for his life and cling on to the hope that tomorrow would come. But these patients all taught me something so valuable…they taught me to treasure the simple moments, to ask hard questions, to engage in vulnerable conversations and to be all-in, engaging every part of this life that I’ve been given.
*Feeling challenged and thankful for this journey that has brought me to pursuing my passion! Looking ahead to Acute term and excited for what the next 8 months and 23 days will hold in nursing school.
Must-Haves:
*Book Recommendation: The Gift of Pain. I had a new friend recommend this book about the concept of pain and seeing it as a gift. I am intrigued!
* Love this cute maxi dress from Amazon- Under $30 and perfect for adding to your spring and summer wardrobe!
*I love this lightweight sweatshirt, again from Amazon! Under $20 and I LOVE the floral print!
Goals for the Week:
Goals from Last Week: Although the school load is intense right now, I was able to enjoy a sabbath yesterday, where I slept in, soaked up the sun, took a long walk, spent time with Jesus, and got some fresh flowers from the market!
Goals for this Week:
*Press on toward the goal! 10 days until my next break, where I’ll get to see my family and enjoy a time of resting, refreshing and refueling.
*Look for ways to actively show kindness this week….to the bus driver, to the patient, to the nurse, to the professor, to the student….share kindness this week and watch it remind you of what’s important!
